AC Refrigerant Leak Repair in Tampa Bay
Home Therapist Cooling, Heating, and Plumbing finds and repairs AC refrigerant (Freon) leaks across Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties. Finding the leak is FREE with the diagnosis, at any hour. Copper leak repairs are $399 at the air handler or the lines and $499 at the condenser, plus the refrigerant. Only when a leak hides and we have to test the lines and the coil separately is there a charge for leak finding: the $559 isolation test.
Adding refrigerant without fixing the leak only buys time. We find the leak first, then give you the options in writing.
Find the leak for FREE
Most leaks show up with our leak detector and a bubble test during the FREE diagnosis.
Isolation test when it hides
If the leak cannot be found, we recover the refrigerant into the condenser and test the lines and the indoor coil separately to see which one leaks. That test is $559.
Repair, or tell you it is time
We solder and repair copper leaks, replace leaking service valves, or replace the coil. If a leaking coil is on an older system, we tell you when replacing the system makes more sense.

Refrigerant, over 3 pounds, per pound: R-32 / R-410A / R-454B / MO99
$90 / $95 / $100 / $100
Refrigerant is added after the repair and is priced on top of the repair. A repair fixes the leak we found; on an older coil, new leaks can still show up later, and we tell you when we see that risk. Leak sealant does not work on every leak, so we only suggest it for small leaks on the lines.
How a leak repair visit works
FREE diagnosisWe check pressures, the coils and the lines, and look for the leak.
Find the leakMost leaks show up with the leak detector and a bubble test. If not, we explain the $559 isolation test first.
Written optionsRepair, coil replacement or a new system, each with a written price.
Repair and rechargeWe repair the leak, pull a vacuum, charge the system and check that it cools.
Refrigerant leaks in Tampa Bay
Long cooling seasons put a lot of hours on every system here.
Signs of a leakWarm air from the vents, a system that runs and runs, ice on the indoor coil or the copper lines, or a hissing sound near the unit.
Coastal homesSalt air near the Gulf and the bays corrodes outdoor coils faster, which can lead to condenser leaks.
Older R-22 systemsR-22 is no longer made, so we use MO99, a replacement refrigerant, on older systems. A leak on an R-22 system is a good time to price a new one.
Repair or replaceA leaking indoor coil on a system that is 12 years old or more is often the point where a new system makes more sense. We give you both prices.

How much does an AC refrigerant leak repair cost in Tampa?
Copper leak repairs are $399 at the air handler or the lines and $499 at the condenser, plus the refrigerant: $270 to $300 for up to 3 pounds, or $90 to $100 per pound above that, depending on the type. Finding the leak is FREE with the diagnosis.
Do you charge for leak detection?
No. Leak detection is FREE with the diagnosis, and we find most leaks that way. Only if the leak cannot be found do we suggest the $559 isolation test, which tests the lines and the indoor coil separately, and we explain it before doing it.
Can you just add refrigerant?
We can, but if the system is low, it is leaking, and the refrigerant will leak out again. We find the leak first so you can decide whether to repair it.
Does leak sealant work?
Sometimes, on small leaks in the lines. It does not work on every leak, so we only suggest it in those cases. It is $449 with UV dye, plus refrigerant, and the dye shows the leak if the sealant does not hold.
Should I repair a leaking coil or replace the AC?
On a newer system, replacing the coil usually makes sense, and the coil may be under warranty. On a system 12 years old or more, a new system is often the better buy. We give you both prices in writing.
What refrigerant does my AC use?
It depends on its age and brand. Older systems use R-22 or R-410A. New Goodman and Daikin systems use R-32, and some other brands use R-454B. We check the label on your unit.
