Heat pump prices run from a Goodman Value system to a Daikin Elite; the Goodman furnace range covers our Value and Premium furnace systems. Heat pump or furnace?
Many Tampa Bay homes heat with a heat pump, and some homes with natural gas have a furnace. How they differ:
- A heat pump moves heat into the house instead of making it, using the same outdoor unit that cools in summer.
- Heat strips are the backup. On the coldest mornings the air handler’s electric heat strips help out, and they use more power.
- Frost on the outdoor unit is normal on a cold morning. The unit runs a short defrost cycle to clear it.
- A gas furnace burns gas to make heat and pairs with a separate AC for cooling. It needs gas service to the house.

New heat pumps: what you get
When it is time for a new system, here is how we install it.
- Right-sized with a Manual JWe run a Manual J load calculation on every replacement quote, so the system is sized for your house, not by square footage.
- Goodman and Daikin, R-32Our Value and Premium packages are Goodman and our Elite package is Daikin. Both use R-32 refrigerant. We install other brands too.
- EfficiencyA new split heat pump in Florida must be at least 14.3 SEER2 and 7.5 HSPF2. Higher-efficiency systems can qualify for utility rebates.
- Copper lines and thermostatValue, Premium and Elite packages flush and reuse your copper lines; new copper lines come with Elite Max. A thermostat comes with every package.
- Permit, inspection and haul-awayWe pull the permit, schedule the inspection and haul the old system away. The permit fee is billed separately.

Heating tune-ups and the Home Therapy Club
A tune-up is $89 per system, every visit. On a heat pump the same visit covers heating and cooling, and we check the heat strips. Regular maintenance means fewer emergencies and smaller repairs, because worn small parts get replaced before they take out a big one. Home Therapy Club
$20 a month per AC system (a heat pump counts as one), or $220 a year prepaid. Every year you get two tune-ups per system, a water heater flush or tankless descale, a whole-house plumbing inspection and a water quality test, and members never pay overtime.

Do you charge a service call or diagnostic fee?
No. The diagnosis and the estimate are FREE on every call, at any hour, with no trip fee and no after-hours fee. You only pay for a repair you approve.
How much is a heating tune-up?
A tune-up is $89 per system, every visit, for a heat pump or a furnace. On a heat pump the same visit covers heating and cooling. The Home Therapy Club includes two tune-ups a year per system.
Why is my heat pump blowing cold air?
On a cold morning the outdoor unit runs a short defrost cycle, and the air can feel cool for a few minutes. A thermostat set to fan ON instead of AUTO also blows room-temperature air between cycles. If cool air lasts longer, the heat strips or the reversing valve may have failed. Call us for a FREE diagnosis.
Is a burning smell normal when the heat first comes on?
A light dusty smell the first time the heat runs for the season is usually dust burning off the heat strips, and it should fade within minutes. If the smell lasts, smells electrical or you see smoke, turn the system off and call us. If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas company or 911 from outside.
How much does a new heat pump cost in Tampa?
A new heat pump system installed by Home Therapist runs $7,161 to $18,540, from a Goodman Value system to a Daikin Elite, depending on size and efficiency. A thermostat is included. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection, and the permit fee is billed separately.
