What we do for range hoods
Most hood calls are one of three jobs. Tell us which hood you bought and where the stove sits, and we will tell you what it takes before any work starts.
New hood, vented outside
We hang the hood you bought, connect it, and run a sealed metal duct to a vent at the soffit, the gable wall or, when there is no other way out, the roof.
Replace an old hood
We take down the old hood, install the new one, and reuse the power and the duct that are already there when they fit the new hood.
Duct that vents into the attic
If your hood blows into a cabinet or the attic, or its duct is crushed or loose, we run a new duct to the outside so grease and steam leave the house.

We do not sell hoods: you pick the one you like, and we install it. If you are not sure it fits your cabinet or your duct, send us the model before you buy. We always try the soffit or the gable wall first. If the roof is the only way out, we tell you before we start: we are not roofers, roof work is not covered by our warranty, and we recommend having a licensed roofer check it.
How a range hood install works

Why venting outside matters in a Tampa Bay kitchen
A hood is only as good as the duct behind it.
- Code says outsideThe Florida residential code requires a ducted range hood to vent to the outdoors through a smooth, airtight duct with a backdraft damper, not into the attic or a cabinet.
- HumidityOur air is already humid. Cooking steam that stays inside adds to the moisture your AC has to pull out.
- GreaseGrease that blows into an attic or a cabinet builds up and collects dust. A sealed metal duct carries it outside.
- The right duct sizeThe duct has to match the hood. On one St. Petersburg kitchen we upsized the duct from 8 to 10 inches before the new hood went in (read that job).
- Microwaves tooAn over-the-range microwave with an outside vent uses the same kind of exhaust duct, and we install it the same way.

How much does it cost to install a range hood in Tampa?
Installing a range hood you already bought is $799. If it needs a new exhaust duct to the outside, that is another $799, which includes up to 18 feet of duct and the soffit, gable or roof vent. Each extra 6 feet of duct is $50. The estimate is FREE.
Do you sell range hoods?
No. You choose and buy the hood you like, and we install it. If you are not sure it fits your cabinet or your duct, send us the model before you buy.
Is the electrical hookup included?
Yes, when there is power at that spot already, for example from an old hood or an over-the-range microwave. If we have to run a brand new circuit from the breaker panel, that is quoted separately.
Can a range hood vent into the attic?
No. The Florida residential code requires a ducted range hood to vent outdoors through a sealed duct with a backdraft damper. If your hood blows into the attic or a cabinet today, we can run a new duct to the outside.
Where does the exhaust duct go out?
We always try the soffit or the gable wall first. If the roof is the only way out, we tell you before we start: we are not roofers, roof work is not covered by our warranty, and we recommend having a licensed roofer check it afterward.
Can you repair a range hood duct?
Yes. A crushed, loose or undersized duct is replaced with a new run to the outside for $799, which includes up to 18 feet of duct and the vent.
Can you vent an over-the-range microwave outside?
Yes. We run the exhaust duct for an over-the-range microwave the same way we do for a hood: $799 for up to 18 feet with the vent included.
