What we install to protect your AC
Modern systems are full of electronics. A power spike can take out a board or a motor in a second, and those parts are expensive to replace.
Condenser surge protector
Mounted at the outdoor unit, it takes the hit from a spike before it reaches the compressor, the fan motor and the board.
Air handler surge protector
The second protector, FREE with the first, guards the indoor unit: the blower motor and the control board.
Voltage monitor
Protects against spikes more than once and stops the system from running when the voltage is too high or too low, then restarts it when power is normal.

How it works

How much does an AC surge protector cost?
A surge protector installed is $469, and the second one is FREE. Most homeowners put one at the outdoor condenser and the FREE one at the indoor air handler. A voltage monitor with surge protection and a disconnect is $1,199, or $899 when it is added with a new system.
Do I really need a surge protector for my AC?
It is not required, but it is cheap protection for expensive parts. Control boards, variable-speed motors and compressors are the parts power spikes damage, and Tampa Bay summers bring frequent storms and power flickers.
What is the difference between a surge protector and a voltage monitor?
A surge protector absorbs spikes. A voltage monitor also protects against spikes, and it shuts the system off when the voltage is too high or too low, then lets it restart when the power is normal again.
Will a surge protector stop a lightning strike?
No device can stop a direct lightning strike. A surge protector protects against the much more common spikes from nearby strikes and the power grid.
Is this a whole-house surge protector?
No. These are installed at your AC and heat pump equipment and protect that system. A whole-house surge protector at the main electrical panel is a different device.
