Sediment Filter Installation in Tampa Bay

The sediment filters we install
All four are made by Atlas Filtri in Italy. They differ in size and in how you keep them clean.
Whole-house cartridge filter
A 4.5 x 10 inch housing with a 5 micron scale and sediment cartridge on the main line. You change the cartridge about every 6 months.
HYDRA self-cleaning filter
A 90 micron stainless steel screen you flush clean through its drain valve, so there is no cartridge to buy.
Large whole-house filter
A bigger 4.5 x 20 inch housing for larger homes and light commercial use, with a 5 micron cartridge.
Water heater scale filter
A point-of-use 5 micron scale and sediment filter that protects a tank or tankless water heater. Change it about every 6 months.
Filter you bought
We install a sediment filter you already have for $299, as long as the pipes do not need rerouting.

The $299 install covers a filter you supply on piping that does not need rerouting; rerouting is quoted separately. If we have to open a wall or cut through stucco, tile or concrete to reach the pipe, we do not patch it afterward.

Who needs a sediment filter in Tampa Bay
A sediment filter is a simple, inexpensive first step. It is not the answer to every water problem.
- WellsSand and grit are common in well water. A filter in front of the house protects everything after it. See well water treatment.
- Tankless water heatersGrit and scale shorten the life of a tankless heater. The point-of-use scale filter catches them before the heat exchanger.
- After a main breakUtility repairs can stir up rust and debris in the lines. A sediment filter keeps it out of your aerators and appliances.

How much does a whole-house sediment filter cost in Tampa?
Our Atlas Filtri whole-house scale and sediment filter is $781 installed. The self-cleaning HYDRA filter is $627, the larger 4.5 x 20 inch filter is $1,051, and we install a filter you bought for $299.
What is the difference between a cartridge filter and a self-cleaning filter?
A cartridge filter catches finer particles, down to 5 microns, and you replace the cartridge about every 6 months. The HYDRA self-cleaning filter uses a 90 micron stainless steel screen that you flush clean, so there are no cartridges to buy, but it catches coarser grit.
Does a sediment filter remove chlorine?
No. A sediment filter removes sand, grit and rust flakes. To remove chlorine or chloramine you need carbon, for example the Halo H2 Zero Ultimate, or a reverse osmosis system for drinking water.
Do I need a sediment filter with a tankless water heater?
It helps, especially on well water or hard water. Our point-of-use scale and sediment filter for water heaters is $581 and protects the heat exchanger from grit and scale.
Can you install a filter I bought?
Yes, for $299, as long as the pipes do not need rerouting. If they do, we quote the extra work before we start.
How often do I change the cartridge?
About every 6 months for the Atlas cartridge filters, sooner if your water carries a lot of sediment. The HYDRA screen is flushed, not replaced.
