What we do for wells
Most well calls are about the water (smell, stains, sediment) or the system (no pressure, a pump that runs nonstop). We handle both.
Iron and sulfur removal
Orange stains, metallic taste and a rotten egg smell usually mean iron or hydrogen sulfide. An iron filter takes them out before the water reaches your fixtures.
Whole-home well treatment
The Safety Zone system disinfects and oxidizes the water with hydrogen peroxide, then softens and filters it. It is the full answer for problem well water.
Pumps, tanks and switches
Low pressure, short cycling or no water at all: we repair and replace well pumps, pressure tanks and pressure switches.

The Safety Zone system includes the chemical feed pump, a 15 gallon solution tank, the contact tank, a Safety Zone softener, a whole-house filter that removes the treatment chemical before the water enters the house, a first pail of hydrogen peroxide, test strips and weather covers for an outdoor install. Its manufacturer warranty is 10 years on the tank and 5 years on the valves and electronics, plus 1 year on our labor. Treatment systems with electronics need a 120 volt outlet nearby; if there is none, a new outlet is quoted separately.

Well water in Tampa Bay
Many homes in rural Hillsborough and Pasco, around Plant City, Dover, Lithia, Thonotosassa and Odessa, get their water from a private well.

How much does a well water treatment system cost in Tampa Bay?
An iron filter is $2,499 (North Star OH2) or $3,999 (Watts). A full Safety Zone well water treatment system, which disinfects, oxidizes, softens and filters the water, is $6,269 with a 13 x 54 contact tank or $9,603 with an 80 gallon contact tank.
How do I get rid of the rotten egg smell in my well water?
That smell is usually hydrogen sulfide. The Watts iron filter we install removes iron, hydrogen sulfide and manganese, and the Safety Zone system treats it as part of a full treatment plant. We look at your water before recommending one.
Do you drill wells?
No. We do not drill wells. We repair and replace well pumps, pressure tanks and pressure switches, and we install water treatment for wells that are already in place.
How much does a well pressure tank cost?
An Amtrol well pressure tank installed is $806 for a 27 gallon tank or $1,100 for a 39 gallon tank.
Why does my well pump keep turning on and off?
Short cycling is often a waterlogged pressure tank or a bad pressure switch. A pressure switch replacement is $299, part and labor included. We check the tank, the switch and the pump before recommending anything.
How often should I test my well water?
The Florida Department of Health recommends testing private well water for bacteria and nitrate at least once a year.
Do you repair well pumps?
Yes. We repair and replace well pumps. A 1 HP Sta-Rite shallow well jet pump is $1,784 installed; other pumps are quoted in writing after we look at the well.
