Example: aerobic treatment unit (500 gallons per day, NSF 245), 300 gallon lift tank, 300 sq ft drainfield, 1/3 HP pump (2 bed, 2 bath home)
$19,999
Effluent pump replacement, 1/3 HP
$799
Effluent pump replacement, 1/2 HP
$999
Effluent pump replacement, 3/4 HP
$1,199
The two system examples are based on recent work on a 2 bedroom, 2 bath home. Your price depends on the system size the county sets for your property, and you get it in writing before any work starts. A septic install takes at least 2 days on site, and can take longer depending on the site.
How a septic project works
Approve the permit stepYou approve the $1,300 permit step, and we pull the septic permit.
County reviewThe county health department reviews the site and sets the system size.
Written priceOnce the size is set, we give you the full price in writing. You decide whether to go ahead.
Install and inspectWe install the system to the permit, and it is inspected.
Septic systems in Tampa Bay
Septic rules in Florida are set by the state, and permits go through the county.
Who permits itIn Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties, septic permits and inspections go through the county health department, under rules set by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (source).
Why the size comes firstThe size depends on the house and the site, so no honest contractor can give a firm septic price before the county sets it.
Aerobic systemsSome sites call for an aerobic treatment unit instead of a standard tank. It costs more, and the county decides when it is needed.
PumpsSystems with a lift tank depend on the effluent pump. When it fails, we replace it with a Liberty pump sized to the system.
Need a septic permit started?
Call or text us. We will explain the permit step and what happens after it.
Our plumbing work is done under Alejandro Morales’s Florida Certified Plumbing Contractor license, CFC1431159. Every tech is background-checked and drug-tested, factory-trained, and trains with us every week. Meet the whole team.
How much does a new septic system cost in Tampa Bay?
It depends on the size the county requires. On recent work for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath home, a 900 gallon tank system was $14,999 and an aerobic treatment unit system was $19,999. The first step is the $1,300 permit step; once the county sets the size, we give you the full price in writing.
Why do you start with the permit?
Because the plumber does not decide the size of a septic system. The county health department does, based on the house and the site. Pulling the permit is how that size gets set, and it is the only way to give you a real price.
What does the $1,300 cover?
It covers pulling the septic permit and getting the county process started. Once the county sets the system size, we give you the full price. If you decide not to go ahead with us after that, that is up to you.
Who issues septic permits in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco?
The county health department handles septic permits and inspections in our three counties, under rules set by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
How long does a septic install take?
At least 2 days on site once the permit is approved, and longer on some sites.
Do you replace septic pumps?
Yes. We replace effluent pumps with Liberty pumps: $799 for 1/3 HP, $999 for 1/2 HP and $1,199 for 3/4 HP.
