Goodman Side Discharge AC Install in Westchase (Raised for Flood Protection)

This Westchase homeowner told us she wanted one thing: the best unit we could give her. Here is how the install came together, including a detail that matters a lot in flood prone parts of Tampa Bay.

What happened on this Westchase job

We usually steer clients toward Daikin, but after we laid out the options she chose a Goodman system, which came in a little lower on cost and still carries a strong warranty: 10 years parts, 10 years labor, a 10 year condenser replacement warranty, and a lifetime compressor warranty. That is real protection.

The air handler was going into a second floor attic, so it was not an easy one, the crew had to partially take the unit apart just to get it up there. Outside, instead of setting the condenser on the ground, we poured a concrete pad and built a metal leg stand on top of it, raising the unit about two and a half feet off the ground. The homeowner was concerned about flooding, which is a real issue in parts of the bay after the hurricanes we have had, so raising the condenser protects her investment. We finished the whole install in one day.

Why we raise condensers in flood prone areas

Since the storms that flooded a lot of Tampa Bay, we have been raising condensers on stands wherever flooding is a concern. A few feet of elevation can be the difference between a unit that keeps running and one that is destroyed in a storm surge. It is a small step at install time that saves a homeowner thousands later.

Should I raise my AC condenser for flood protection?

In flood prone parts of Tampa Bay, yes. Raising the condenser on a stand keeps it above shallow flooding and storm surge, protecting an expensive piece of equipment.

Is Goodman a good AC brand?

Goodman is a solid, value focused brand with strong warranties, including long parts, labor, and compressor coverage. It is one of the brands we confidently install and support.

Can a full AC install be done in one day?

Often yes. This Westchase system, including a difficult second floor attic air handler and a raised outdoor stand, was completed in a single day.
