As of the 2020 Census the population was 24,939, with most residents split between zip codes 34690 (inland) and 34691 (coastal). The community grew out of a 1960s coastal development push. Holiday Drive first appeared on maps in the early 1960s, and the surrounding subdivisions built out through the late 1970s and early 1980s. Today Holiday covers roughly 10 square miles and sits right on the Pinellas County line.
Major employers in the immediate area are retail and service related, with healthcare anchored by Morton Plant North Bay Hospital in nearby New Port Richey. There is no single large industrial employer in Holiday itself; most residents commute south on US 19 or Alternate US 19 to Tarpon Springs, Palm Harbor, and Clearwater. Housing stock is unusually old for Tampa Bay. Roughly 65 percent of homes were built between 1960 and 1980, about 25 percent went up in the 1980s, and only about 10 percent are 1990s or newer (mostly Key Vista and Gulf Trace).
