East Lake (ZIPs 34685, 34688) is an upscale 1980s through 2000s Pinellas corridor covering East Lake Woodlands, Lansbrook, and Boot Ranch. Mature oak canopy drops heavy debris into condensers, and original gas furnaces plus heat pumps are aging out together across the area. TECO Peoples Gas service throughout makes dual-fuel a real option. We install Goodman Value and Daikin Fit heat pumps with full ductwork integrity audits and dual-fuel switchover thermostats. Heat pumps cut the heating-mode Duke Energy bill 60 to 70 percent on cold-snap days. FREE in-home estimate. FREE diagnosis on every visit.

East Lake Woodlands and Lansbrook have mature oak and pine canopy that drops heavy organic load (leaves, pine needles, twigs) into condenser coils faster than most of Pinellas. The original 1990s and 2000s condensers were not specified with adequate top guards. We install Goodman and Daikin Fit heat pumps with upgraded leaf-guard hoods and recommend quarterly coil rinsing. The Boot Ranch and East Lake Woodlands golf-course lots are the worst offenders. Owners who service their condensers quarterly here get the full 12 to 18 year service life out of the equipment.
Upgraded leaf-guard hoods included on every East Lake install.
East Lake has TECO Peoples Gas service throughout, so dual-fuel heat pumps are a strong fit for owners who want maximum cold-snap capacity. A Daikin Fit variable-speed heat pump paired with a 95 percent AFUE gas furnace gives owners best-case efficiency at moderate temperatures (heat pump runs) and best-case capacity at cold snaps (furnace takes over below 35 degrees). The Daikin One+ smart thermostat handles automatic switchover based on outdoor sensor. For East Lake's 7 to 30 cold days per year, this combo handles every weather event reliably.
Daikin One+ smart thermostat manages dual-fuel switchover automatically.
East Lake falls inside the FBC 2023 mainland wind zone (130 mph design speeds for 34685 and 34688). Outdoor condensers need hurricane-strapped engineered pads with manufacturer-specified anchors. We pull Pinellas County mechanical permits at the County Annex Building and schedule the inspection. Inspection turnaround runs 5 to 10 business days. East Lake Woodlands and Lansbrook HOAs have aesthetic requirements for visible mechanical equipment, which we coordinate before ordering.
FBC 1609 hurricane straps + Pinellas permit + HOA coordination included.

Effective January 1, 2026, every residential heat pump sold in the United States ships with R-454B refrigerant instead of R-410A. R-454B has a 78 percent lower global warming potential and is mildly flammable (A2L classification), which requires updated installer training, leak detection sensors on indoor air handlers, and refrigerant line sets sized to the new specification. Every East Lake heat pump we install uses R-454B compliant Goodman or Daikin Fit equipment installed to the new ASHRAE 15.2 safety standard. R-410A equipment is still legal to service but new equipment supply is tightening.
Wondering whether to keep an older heat pump going or upgrade to R-454B? Call (813) 343-2212 for a FREE estimate. We run the real numbers, no high pressure.
All projects include FREE in-home estimate, FREE diagnosis on existing equipment, and our 1-year parts & labor warranty.

Heat pump installation in East Lake ranges from $5,000 to $12,000 per system depending on size, brand tier, and scope. Larger homes with dual systems budget for each separately. Home Therapist provides free in-home estimates with detailed pricing.
A: A heat pump and an AC both cool your home the same way, but a heat pump can reverse the process to provide heating in winter. A traditional AC uses electric heat strips for warmth, which are expensive to run. In East Lake, where winter lows are mild, a heat pump handles heating far more efficiently because it moves heat instead of generating it. For concrete block homes in Pinellas County, a heat pump is the most energy-efficient option for year-round comfort.
A: Heat pump installation in East Lake typically costs $5,500 to $12,000 depending on the size, efficiency rating, and any ductwork modifications needed. concrete block homes from the 1990s to 2010s with existing ductwork in good condition are on the lower end. High-efficiency models cost more upfront but save significantly on your Duke Energy bill over the system’s life. We offer financing options and provide free estimates for all East Lake homeowners.
A: Heat pumps in Florida typically last 12 to 16 years. Because they run year-round for both cooling and heating, regular maintenance is critical. In East Lake, where inland heat and dust adds environmental stress and systems work hard through long summers, well-maintained heat pumps outperform neglected ones by years. Our maintenance plans include two visits per year to keep your heat pump running at peak efficiency.
A: Absolutely. East Lake’s winter temperatures rarely drop below 40 degrees, which is well within a heat pump’s optimal operating range. A heat pump is 2 to 3 times more efficient than electric heat strips at these temperatures. For concrete block homes in East Lake, a heat pump provides comfortable, even heating without the high Duke Energy bills that come with strip heat. On the rare nights below 35 degrees, the backup heat strips kick in automatically.
A: We install Goodman as our Value and Premium tier and Daikin as our Elite tier. Both brands offer reliable heat pump models designed for Florida’s climate. Daikin’s inverter technology is especially efficient for East Lake homeowners looking to maximize savings on their Duke Energy bill. Goodman provides excellent performance at a more accessible price point. We recommend the best option based on your home and budget.
A: Heat pump sizing follows the same principles as AC sizing, roughly 1 ton per 500 square feet in Florida, adjusted for your home’s specific characteristics. In East Lake, where concrete block homes from the 1990s to 2010s vary in insulation quality and ductwork condition, we perform a Manual J load calculation. Proper sizing prevents short-cycling in cooling mode and ensures adequate heating output when temperatures drop.
A: Yes, we provide emergency heat pump repair in East Lake and across Pinellas County. Heat pumps can fail in both cooling and heating mode, and in Florida summer, a broken system is an emergency. We service East Lake Woodlands, Lansbrook, East Lake Tarpon area and surrounding areas with typical response times of 1 to 3 hours. Our trucks carry common parts so most heat pump repairs are completed in a single visit.
A: Twice a year in Florida, once before summer and once before winter. Because a heat pump handles both cooling and heating, it works year-round and needs attention in both seasons. In East Lake, where inland heat and dust wears on outdoor components, the spring service is especially important for cleaning coils and checking refrigerant. Our Therapy Maintenance Plan covers both visits with priority scheduling for East Lake homeowners.
A: Call us at (813) 343-2212 or book online at hometherapist.pro for a free in-home estimate. We will assess your current system, calculate the right size for your East Lake home, and give you upfront pricing with financing options. Whether you are in East Lake Woodlands, Lansbrook, East Lake Tarpon area or anywhere in Pinellas County, we will help you decide if a heat pump is the right investment for your home.
A: Yes, we cover every East Lake neighborhood (ZIPs 34685, 34688), including East Lake Woodlands, Lansbrook, Boot Ranch, and the streets near the East Lake Woodlands Country Club, Lansbrook Golf Club, and Brooker Creek Preserve. Average response time from our Tampa shop is about 45 minutes via Veterans Expressway north, Tampa Road west, then East Lake Road. We hold emergency heat pump capacity 7 days a week.
A: Same-day heat pump repair in East Lake is standard for our shop. We carry common capacitors, contactors, reversing valves, defrost boards, and fan motors on the truck. Specialty variable-speed control boards or full compressor replacements may require a 1 to 3 day parts order. For full installs we typically pull Pinellas County permits within 1 to 2 business days and install within 5 to 7 days.
A: For most East Lake owners, yes. Dual-fuel pairs a variable-speed heat pump with your existing 95 percent AFUE gas furnace (or a new one if yours is past its life) and lets the heat pump run for moderate cooling and shoulder-season heating, while the gas furnace handles deep cold snaps below 35 degrees. The Daikin One+ smart thermostat handles automatic switchover. Across the Pinellas climate, owners typically save 30 to 40 percent on total HVAC operating cost versus AC-only-plus-furnace. The add-on cost over a heat-pump-only install is $2,500 to $4,000.
A: Yes. Pinellas County requires a mechanical permit on every heat pump install or full-system replacement. We pull the permit at the County Annex Building, schedule the inspection, and meet the inspector. East Lake falls inside the FBC 2023 wind zone (130 mph design speeds) so condenser pads require hurricane straps and engineered anchors. We honor Goodman and Daikin manufacturer warranties (and service Carrier, Lennox, Trane, Rheem brands) when we install or service the equipment, plus a 1-year parts and labor warranty on every install.
A: Yes. The diagnosis is genuinely FREE in East Lake. We do not charge a diagnostic fee, a trip charge, or a service-call fee for heat pump evaluation. The $279 minimum applies only to APPROVED repair labor after you have authorized the work. If you decide not to proceed, you owe nothing for the diagnosis. New install estimates are also free, and we provide written fixed-price quotes before any work starts.
