Original Fiberglass Tub-Shower Service on 1960s and 1970s Pinellas Park Ranch Homes
The 1960s and 1970s Pinellas Park ranch homes along 49th Street, 66th Street, and the original Pinellas Park grid almost universally have one-piece fiberglass tub-shower combos with original Mansfield, Sayco, or early Moen Posi-Temp single-handle cartridges that are now 55-plus years old. Many of these units have visible surround cracks, yellowed fiberglass, rust streaks, and sticky or dripping valves. The cartridge service path is similar to other Tampa Bay 1960s and 1970s ranches: we carry Mansfield repair kits, Moen 1222 and 1225 cartridges, and Delta RP19804 cartridges as standard truck stock. Cartridge replacement runs $189 to $385 installed. The fiberglass surround replacement question is separate: if the surround has cracked, stained, or rust-streaked beyond cosmetic, the homeowner decides whether to replace ($1,800 to $3,200 plumbing-only) or convert to tile ($3,300 to $6,700 total) or to a walk-in shower ($4,500 to $9,500 total). Many Pinellas Park homeowners are aging in place and the walk-in conversion is popular.
