How long does a heat pump installation take?
Most installs are finished in one day. When the job also includes new ductwork, we send more than one crew so it is still done in one day.
What size heat pump do I need?
It depends on the house: insulation, windows, sun exposure and ductwork all change the answer. We run a Manual J load calculation on every estimate. Our last 13 Tampa heat pumps ran from 1 to 5 tons.
Is a heat pump worth it in Tampa?
For most homes, yes. A heat pump cools like a regular AC and also heats on cool nights, and a Goodman Value heat pump costs only a little more than the same AC.
Do heat pumps work when it gets cold?

Do I need a permit for a heat pump installation?
Yes. A new heat pump needs a Hillsborough County mechanical permit and an inspection. We pull the permit and meet the inspector, and the permit fee is billed separately.
Are there rebates for heat pumps?
TECO and Duke Energy run rebate programs on higher-efficiency systems, and the amount depends on the utility and its current program. The federal energy tax credit ended for installs after December 31, 2025.
