when is it better to repair rather than replace an AC unit so I would say that any unit that is still has any warranty should be repaired so for me repairing versus replacing has to be about the warranty on the unit any AC unit comes with 10 years of warranty on parts and that's what the manufacturer gives you right um sometimes you only get five because that 10 years is only reserved for the uh for the primary owner there's a lot now that changed this year year after July you don't even have to raise it the warranty it doesn't matter who the owner is you get the 10 years before this year you if you're the second owner of that unit you only get five years so if you don't have the warranty on parts and you have a big repair in front of you it's going to cost you a lot of money any new coil rep replacement is probably between 25 to $3,500 compressor is a little more than that so if you don't that's if you don't have the warranty on parts any one of those parts could cost you over $1,000 dollar easily just the part so replacement normally is better when you don't have that warranty if you have it it makes sense to get a repair gotcha and so can you walk through like the process of when you're working with customers do you like go over the phone um got like the warranty details or do you do that when you get to their house how does that process work so we can do it either way ideally we always want to be in the house and and see the unit and see what the problem is but at least the warranty look up or the warranty search we could do it over the phone simply with the tag of the unit let's say we need a compressor you send me a picture of that of the tag that the condenser unit has if I can get the model and serial number I can do a look up online I can see how much warranty he has or if he has any left at all I can even see the part if it's available how much it costs I can see all of that just by getting that piece of information the key aspect is do you know what's wrong most of the time you don't so in that case it's better for us to go do the diagnosis and then we can see everything on the spot like we can check the warranty we can actually look for the part that we diagnose that is broken and and go from the
